zsh | (anon):12: character not in range

Solution:

sudo apt-get install -y language-pack-en
sudo update-locale

Then zsh starts working!

On Debian (with ohmyzsh) I added

export LANG="en_GB.UTF-8"
export LC_ALL="en_GB.UTF-8"

before the source $ZSH/oh-my-zsh.sh

Debian 12 Can use dpkg-reconfigure locales and select en_US.UTF-8 to try.
