Using Linphone on Android with voip.ms

Why Linphone?

Why voip.ms

  • Clear and consistent pricing with a immediately updated Call Detail Record backing everything up.
  • Probably (?) the cheapest VOIP Provider, Cloud PBX out here.

Using Linphone on Android with voip.ms

There are a few things you need to keep in mind when configuring Linphone. Most of these are outlined on their great wiki page about Linphone on Android.

Based on the screenshots, the interface is much older than current version. However, the options that are listed there are all still configurable, albiet in different locations

The only issue I had was with outgoing calls. They kept getting dropped almost instantly. I eventually realized this was due to my CallerID set incorrectly by Linphone.

Linphone Android has logs

I wish I knew this before starting. You can get to them via the Help menu >> Troubleshooting. They're uploaded to a Linphone site, however.

Voip.ms has call logs

You can see your call logs in the web Ui under Finances >> Call Detail Records, or CDRs.

Correct Caller ID

I could NOT find any information on how to format the Display Name in Linphone to achieve a working Caller ID. I gave up and set the "CallerID" number in the Voip.ms UI to "Use one of my DIDs."
