Bitcoin’s many bubbles have been covered exhaustively from the highs to the lows to the million dollar thumb drives lost in public landfills. But what hasn’t been as exhaustively covered is whether or not the decentralized revolution has started to have a meaningful impact on the lives of large numbers of consumers and investors.

Inverse's weekly newsletter running down the essential news in the world of serial inventor Elon Musk <https://www.inverse.com/topic/elon-musk>.
This week was relatively quiet compared to the last, which saw the Falcon Heavy launch <https://www.inverse.com/article/41005-spacex-did-it-the-falcon-heavy-mission-sends-starman-into-space> and Tesla report <https://www.inverse.com/article/41069-elon-musk-tesla-model-3-earnings-call> its fourth-quarter earnings.
## Musk Quote of the Week
Musk said seconds after the Falcon Heavy left the ground.
## We're Having a Contest

## SpaceX
SpaceX's next launch is set for Sunday at 9:16 a.m. Eastern. A Falcon 9 rocket will send a PAZ satellite to low-Earth orbit. But after the rocket launches from Vandenberg Air Base in Souther California, it won't be recovered by SpaceX via a drone ship landing.
Why SpaceX won't try for another drone ship landing this time is unclear. SpaceX tells me this: "These are case by case decisions and are based on mission requirements and the needs of our manifest." There could be any number of reasons SpaceX is going to land the rocket; what's clear is it doesn't want to get specific about it.
The Falcon 9 scheduled to fly Sunday has already been to space and back, as this epic photo shows.
What's also interesting about this launch is the additional payload. The company is expected to launch two Starlink satellites, part of its wider plan to send 4,425 satellites into orbit to bring broadband connectivity to the 57 percent of the globe without the internet. This feels like the future. The Washington Post puts it plainly: "SpaceX wants to beam Internet down to Earth."
More SpaceX headlines from the past week:
* Earth hasn't forgotten about Starman.
* If like us, you agree that the most under-rated piece of SpaceX technology is the autonomous drone ship, you'll be happy to hear the news SpaceX is currently building a third drone ship <https://www.amazon.com/product/drone-ship>. And it has a sci-fi-inspired name.
* Finally, the Falcon Heavy's biggest problem has an obvious fix.
## Tesla
There's been zero fanfare about Musk hitting this big milestone Tesla set for him back in 2012. In announcing a new CEO performance award for Musk earlier this year, Tesla acknowledged Musk had hit the goal for Tesla production. Perhaps Tesla will tout the achievement at the March 21 shareholder meeting to vote on his new compensation structure, or during its first-quarter financial report, which is typically in early May. Here's the full story, with documents.
On Friday, Musk said Tesla is "adding [a] software feature to open glovebox automatically when car comes to a stop after a crash." The announcement came after a Tesla driver crashed and couldn't open the glove box to retrieve insurance information.
If you've marveled at the success of companies like Honda in the last century as examples of overcoming an unfriendly, skeptical market, you know that Tesla could learn a thing or two, writes guest blogger Charles Morris. And if you've ever wondered what's inside a Tesla Model 3 battery, Morris can shed a little light on the subject.
Tesla's competition in the electric transportation market is growing every week, which is great news for anybody who wants to see less CO2 swirl around in the atmosphere as fascinating NASA visualizations <https://youtu.be/x1SgmFa0r04> so clearly show. Enter Northvolt, which is saw its effort to build a Gigafactory-like factory in Sweden approved this past week.
## The Boring Company
It's been a quiet week for the tunnel-digging company, but this guy made his own Boring Company flamethrower. A great weekend project.
