Documented Internal System Applications

This is documentation of a few applications that are hidden from the user and can only be opened with tools like Bridge.

Note: These applications were documented from an iPhone 15 Pro on iOS 26.0.1.

  • AdaptiveMusicApp: Audio player that is only used while the Ambient Music feature is active.
  • AXRemoteViewService: Aplication meant for the "Control Nearby Devices" feature.
  • BarcodeScanner: Basic QR code scanning app that can also be opened in the Control Center.
  • ClarityCamera: Probably meant for Assistive Access, this is a very basic camera app that only has a singular "Take Photo" button.
  • ClarityPhotos: Also for Assistive Access, this is a very basic photos app.
  • ContinunityCaptureShieldUI: User interface for when connecting an iPhone to a Mac with Continuity Camera. This does not seem to have any functionality, but a live activity pops up in the dynamic island.
  • ContinunityCaptureSignShieldUI: User interface for Apple Music Sing with an Apple TV. This also causes a live activity to appear in the dynamic island.
  • Diagnostics: This is the diagnostics app that's used when contacting Apple Support. If you're not in a diagnostic session, you'll get the "How can we help you?" message.
  • FamilyExtensionHost: Seems to be an app for testing some type of age restriction feature on iOS? I tried it out myself and it kept failing, but this app is very strange nonetheless.
  • FTMInternal: Known for a while now, this app gives very detailed information about your iPhone's cellular connectivity, such as RSRP, cell id, and many other details that are mainly useful to network engineers.
  • PosterBoard: The lock screen application, which includes the wallpaper & editing features.
  • PreBoard: Might show a white screen for a few seconds, or damage your device. I do not recommend opening this.
  • SOSBuddy: The Connection Assistant app for iOS.
  • Spotlight: The application for spotlight search in iOS. If you open this, the spotlight from SpringBoard will stop working. A reboot fixes this.
  • SupportFlow: The application for Step-by-Step help.
  • TVRemoteUIService: The application for the Apple TV remote app.
  • WritingToolsUIService: The application for the writing tools menu.
