When Java 9 is the default version getting resolved in the environment, pyspark will throw error below
and you will see name 'xx' is not defined error when trying to access sc, spark etc. from shell / Jupyter.

This is likely to happen if Java 9 is unintentionally installed with brew cask install java.
Caskroom has recently used Java 9 as default Java version and moved Java 8 to versions repo as java8.
To install Java 8 back, do the following instead:
brew tap caskroom/versions
brew cask install java8
To handle multiple versions of Java, use jenv.
