prologue: to weep

over a year since Eshonai first found humans and the night of treaty
Eshonai took to Alethi naturally, any particular reason?.. her wanderings take to Gavilar, with 2 officers, 2 women, 1 old man
Parshendi consider themselves to be traitors, who'd abandoned their gods to be free
Gavilar needs their help, says he's discovered how to bring their gods back - with very special gemstone to hold a god
Eshonai is terrified, says they don't worship those gods, they've abandoned them
Gavilar is acting upon his visions - Unite them.. he thinks a threat will unite them (whom?), knows that parshmen were robbed of their ability to transform by capturing an ancient crucial spren.. new storm to reverse that and bring heralds out of hiding (who told him that)
Eshonai is stunned that the world was much more, they'd thought Kholinar was as far as lands could go
Gavilar shows the sphere, dark faintly violet..asks her to take it to the Five and explain what he'd said... is this the sphere that allowed Venli to bond with Ulim?
Klade had brought Szeth, a voice(unmade?) speaking to rhythms leading him.. Venli was with him..

Dalinar is visiting the visions at will and experimenting, it takes whole of part-1 to get reveal that he could get stormfather to show it to others as well
stormfather is speaking to Dalinar.. he doesn't have to be with highstorm all the time? or he could speak with Dalinar no matter where the highstorm is?
golden light, bathing everything in its heat, dark figure in shardplate (that's why Ulim needed it?), nine shadows - each spreading in different direction, eyes glowing brilliant red (Axies shadow points towards sun, Jasnah's shadow was pointing to spheres in WoR prologue)
something terribly familiar in enemy champion's eyes - Dalinar had interacted before or just red eyes similar to stormform Parshendi?
Dalinar thinks he has to unite whole world against enemy.. scout comes to inform Sadeas has been found murdered

one problem solved

4 highprinces had fought in shattered plains, 4 more have joined now.. what about the remaining two? and no parshmen here, so humans have to do all the work
strata mentioned regularly, probably conductor for stormlight as others have theorized
May Aladar mentioned - short, pretty woman in 20s with tan eyes and round face
The Lopen has two arms, Kal's men had begun manifesting Windrunner powers (what about others who'd lost limbs?)
don't have abilities now that Kal has flown off, so how did The Lopen use stormlight when he was with Elhokar in Sebarial's camp?

Oaths

Everstorm strikes Urithiru (low enough in sky to not reach Urithiru), Navani's memoirs mentioned - parts of which we got as epigraphs in WoR
stormfather says everstorm is new, didn't come in earlier desolations (is this true? or the nature of the storm is different?)
enemy aware of Dalinar, and he seems to get glimpses of the destruction caused by everstorm.. less powerful than the one they experienced in shattered plains
Dalinar finally tells someone (Navani) that he can't remember anything at all of Evi... he remembers some details, like Evi taken hostage by a city in rebellion against Gavilar.. that he'd brought vengeance to them

Elhokar mentioned as resting great deal lately (talking to spren?), he is okay with Dalinar-Navani marriage as it'll make his mom happy

Dalinar says he's felt something beyond, warmth and light.. Honor was never God.. Kadash tries to remind him he is not infallible

Hearthstone

fourth day since Kal left Urithiru..everstorm had stuck before he could reach Hearthstone.. he'd warned villages he'd passed through.. no working spanreeds, so he couldn't contact Hearthstone (but did he contact from Urithiru before leaving?)
Syl has safehand covered and asks his opinion on the dress, she'd spent hours thinking :P spots a lurg, imitates it and startles the creature :D
Kal looks at destruction and so mopey that gloomspren have come.. Syl mentions her aunts (other honorsprens) hunting these..the more Syl is with Kal, the more memories come.. Kal lets himself to be bullied inside the manor (he later lets himself caught by parshmen)

Four lifetimes

nobody recognizes Kal..poor guard, you don't know nothing about Kal :P
the moans lead Kal to Lirin working who recognizes his 'little boy' soon enough..yells for Hesina..who promptly drops a tray seeing Kal.. Kal breaks down about Tien while parents are tearfully happy to see Kal alive (he was reported dead)
their home still stands, first hint of his little bro - Kal's spot dedicated to something else
Kal thinks he's lived/died thrice during the time away from Hearthstone..soldier/slave/captain - now becoming KR
Hesina says Roshone's improved, and there's something else..but Lirin interrupts to ask her to write a letter reg. Kal's brands
Syl says they're like she remembers them, because everyone/everything is connected, the winds(kindred blood) knew Kal.. besides there was another voice, pure with song like tapped crystal, distant yet demanding (Tien?)
Adolin's fashion rubbing off on Kal :P and lands a solid punch, felling Roshone.. for 'friend' Moash

A Watcher at the Rim

read together, it is 3rd chapter in a row for Kal..
'Do/Be better' becomes Kal's mantra for part-one..

Kal casually agrees to tell Elhokar about the damages in Hearthstone.. and handful of sphere ain't big deal to pay Roshone..
apart from herself being intelligent and articulate, Syl is elegant and graceful weapon :P she does seem to put plenty of thought into words, she should spend time with Shallan/Jasnah/Navani
some of old spren have four genders, because of Parshendi forms?
Kal impresses upon Roshone about dangers and orders him to prepare for dangers.. Laral replies they'll do it..
they have one spanreed to queen in Kholinar (not responding lately) and fortunately one to Tashikk (where Lift had visited in edgedancer)
Laral won't stand for insults of her husband and is quite happy.. hmm.. and Syl likes her.. would like pic of Laral's reaction when she gets reply back from Dalinar :P Life before death used as sign off msg, nice

A powerful lie

yup, the sketch clearly shows something very wrong in Urithiru.. so Shallan's snapshot is not just physical realm I suppose?
truth of her mother's death as Ideal, Shallan progress is seen during her theatre performance and fight against unmade
hello Lyn the scout, and Shallan refers to Kal as Brightlord Brooding-Eyes, how cute :P and she's pretending to be elsecaller to hide her lightweaving skills
Shallan has worked out to use strata as a guideline to move within Urithiru.. does she notice color differences better like the Returned?
Renarin has a blanket, holds cup of steaming tea - was speculated that he'd been off to duplicate Sadeas murder, but that turned out to be unmade... so just feeling cold, or may be after effects of using stormlight? (with nothing left to help with the chill later)
Tukar/Emul war mentioned, Tezim the warlord in Tukar (aspect of almighty, which is true if he's indeed Herald)
and here we see the pull of Bondsmiths.. is the pull activated only on certain occasions?

Shallan notices that Adolin is seriously disturbed about the murder and later staring, aghast, mouth open and eyes wide

Adolin is now in charge of investigation, one of the murders commited by himself :P Dalinar is missing officers dead and Jasnah as well for political guide

distractions

we often see Kal thinking about Hav's instructions, but we never did see him onscreen did we?
there again, Syl with the scholarly words - my solemn and important duty to bring happiness, light and joy into your world
Gumfrems gemhearts allowed soulcasting of meat... what'd gemhearts of Parshendi allow?
Kal's talk of Syl mothering makes her think about it and decide that she'll make wonderful mother :P (I'd not mind her mothering me :D)
mothering she'd do - teach little spren to fly, to coast the winds, to harass Kal..okay..and would totally leave them in highprince's shoe..(talk to Lift for more ideas)
while Kal's disappointed that he couldn't show off, he finally gets some info on parshmen - 50 or so attacked grain storage, tall, wearing armor
Syl hears or infers that the ardent reporting thinks Kal is pretty, but Syl points Kal is anything but.. and then goes to mention her spying on ppl behind closed doors... we'll soon get better from Pattern :D
Syl then says Kal liked Shallan, Kal even acknowledges.. yay for Shalladin
Adolin come to visit Gallant.. carrying on Syl-Kal converstation, what about Gallant, feels lonely?
Adolin observes Ryshadium cannot be won like a blade, but then that shardblades used to be spren who chose their bearers too.. (is it a hint that Ryshadium somehow involved in plate? I'd think not, but surely more than just mount for shardbearers?)
Renarin comes to visit, with intention to heal? Glys said something? give us Renarin POV already :-/
Renarin has given the dead spren blade to ardents, want Adolin to give away.. Glys wasn't certain but Renarin has blade now
Adolin has full confidence Renarin won't hurt but save, Renarin smiles, pulse of Radiance washes through Adolin who sees himself perfected, complete and whole, the man he could be.. (I don't think it is specific to Renarin alone, Shallan seemed to do something similar too).. wrist is healed too :)

the rift

Dalinar has shardplate in this flashback.. Sadeas brings up Dalinar's marriage.. Dalinar is only thinking of Navani who'd married Gavilar and Jasnah's been born
Rathalas, chasm city, built inside rip in the ground.. similar to Yeddaw?
Teleb was the archer in previous flashback.. he died at Narak though
I think Dalinar didn't kill the kid and that kid later kidnapped Evi.. don't see why else Dalinar would be ashamed

negotiations

in which Azir and Thaylenah don't agree to Dalinar's unite quest
we get another hint that all is not as assumed regarding Parshendi - in Azir they're negotiating and in Thaylenah they took off with the ships
Dalinar wishes that he could speak to the leaders instead of spanreed.. you just had to ask stormfather :P
Mr. T is coming though.. even by end of part-1 we don't get a clue which way he'll swing, I think Sanderson will sweep our feets either way

chaperone

time for 'no mating' :D and too much going Shadolin way.. I think it will end up with all 3 together, Sha-Ado-Kal FTW
we see Shallan thinking her illusions more and more as separate persons.. because she upped with Ideals or she's losing control?
wow, even a knife can't scratch the stones of Urithiru.. just what is it made up of? entirely soulcast?
Adolin saying born under the sign of the nine led to too many speculations.. I think it is just a red-herring, purposefully put by Mr. Sanderson to make us go crazy :P
Shallan wants to glimpse Adolin's back of left thigh (birthmark)... and thinks about creative applications for her tongue..
Adolin names pattern as Shallanspren :P which pattern sniffs at.. and Shallan shows off by creating Adolin illusion in shardplate.. he pokes at it and then has the audacity to poke at pattern!!!
secrets are important (when Adolin asks why she pretends to be elsecaller) and agrees.. come on Shallan, ask him already :P
dividing by zero :D :D :D (after TWoK/WoR re-read, this is no surprise, pattern does show plenty of interest in maths)

aww pattern, took a while to understand what Shallan meant by chaperone :P and he breaks their moment of intimacy... they promise to not mess it up.. hope so..

squires can't capture

on first read, I thought we'd get something about Kal's squires.. Sanderson does re-use chapter titles later, so who knows.. we might see it again
Herdaz seems to be famous for lot of things... dish in previous chapter and now playing cards..
yellow spren spots Kal after Kal had time to watch them and make some preliminary judgement that they'd been wrong about a lot regarding Parshendi/Parshmen

brightness radiant

Perel's body found in same area as Sadeas.. did he look like Sadeas as well? that stretches beyond reasonable for me..
oh pattern, don't say things like that... but interesting that they'll send another to bond if he dies.. why? Shallan would have break the bond.. or is he volunteering to die?
Shallan becomes brightness radiant, to escape from thinking of what she'd had done with pattern as blade.. but to also incorporate personality to weild sword.. and refers to Shallan as third person.. even going as far to address him as brightlord Kholin :D
she read somewhere or instinctively knew pattern can dull the edges?
I think a 3rd benefit of latest avatar is that she wouldn't blush from all the touching Adolin did...
Adolin never thought blade as something alive in the past, but as something special.. so, at least so far he hasn't been trying to revive or something
Shallan uses her drawing to improve a whole lot.. just like that :) feels like some cognitive aspect has come into play

wrapped three times

I remember that Dalinar tells a story here.. Sanderson is very good when it comes to such things..
why didn't Dalinar bond with the honorblade as an extra safety measure? it doesn't scream.. may be he asked and stormfather refused?
here we get a reason why Odium might be willing to agree to a champion.. fighting directly might bring other shards.. and he's been hurt before (Honor did it? and they don't heal.. interesting) and defeating that champion only gains time for humans.. not permanent solution
honorblade would open the oathgates too..
Rial of bridge 13.. speaks his mind.. worldhopper? or just false trail..
Navani has sent him a fabrial - shows times, predicted highstorm as well as painrial.. many have speculated that painrial plays a role in getting back Evi's memories.. but talking with Kadash had brought up memories too (though not of Evi)
look who's back - our grumpy Returned Zahel.. why didn't Dalinar ask Zahel to practice with?
for some reason, the wrestling brings 'Dangal' to mind, Aamir's bout with his daughter, not the one early on with state champion
Dalinar hasn't felt Thrill in months..
Iriali queen wants to communicate now, tide reading prompting the move..hmm
Dalinar asks to set up in sparring area itself, forces Kadash to spar with swords..
the queen speaks of One like Ym did..parshmen have offered gracious terms to Iriali as well :D she brings up Adolin's shardplate as something Dalinar stole..
talk of tradition with Kadash leads to the story... and gives us another point that Gavilar/Dalinar captured Kholinar..
Dalinar shows off power during his argument with Kadash, and instinctively binds Kadash to stone.. like Szeth/Kal know to do.. then asks Kadash to prove that current Vorinism is same as what Heralds taught.. I hope Kadash does find something about this :) or may be it'll be mute when Jasnah returns
painrial already working? but I don't think Dalinar used it as such.. anyway, he can hear Evi's name and remember face too

trapped in shadows

Kal remembers being here, as a slave before reaching shattered plains, one of the escape attempts that lasted a week
Kal might be wrong in assuming he understood parshmen, but talking about it does improve his understanding..
Kal is afraid that Syl is behaving oddly, but she manages to tell the yellow spren is watching and that she's acting as windspren.. and Syl thinks the spren is a 'she'
all the higher spren have some instinct to be afraid of voidsprens?
Syl remarkably infers/knows that everstorm filled the holes of parshmen, bridging the gaps..healed, connection refounded, identity restored..
parshmen having worked so many things for men, I'd have expected them to know somethings that Kal said.. or may be it just seems like that in hindsight after Kal put it that way

double vision

maintaining illusions uses very little stormlight compared to initial amount needed to make it, probably just the amount that leaks?
Syl dislikes Adolin because he has dead spren blade, but pattern has come to accept humans deal with corpses all the time - chairs, doors, food, clothing, etc (Syl, do learn :P).. he likes him.. did he comment much about Adolin in WoR? if not, why?
I think we can infer here that Shallan still has truths to be said.. not a full KR yet.. what terrible truths left Shallan? do all lightweavers have such suppressed truths? and what truths did Shallan speak to get at least to blade level the first time?
and here Veil wonders why merchants selling same things congregated (Yalb had said the same to Shallan) - does it mean Shallan borrowed something from him?
wow, wells in Urithiru always full.. because of mountains with water resource?
all the shaking and coughing from drinking the wine doesn't disturb the illusion? perhaps not enough to be observable.. the barkeep even patted Shallan on the back
all sorts of speculation who the bouncer Jor is.. I'll just pass over, too much to keep track off
Jor speaks of knowing porters to get Shallan back safely.. and that leads to All's Alley crime previous day.. so Veil wanted to go, in the process hurting elbow and discovering stormlight will cure drunkenness too :D
Horneater white - takes off paint nicely... and here Veil gets tossed and rolls on ground.. her lightweaving sure must have improved to the point of staying put no matter what as long as she has stormlight to feed the leakage.. whatever, I sure like how she stabs the Horneater to get her place back
and then shows off ghostbloods symbol to Betha..but one short younger woman seems interested in Veil.. she finally gets the lead she needed... during first read, this was really a shock and interesting turn of events... sort of stuff that gets analysed a lot in forums

the subtle art of diplomacy

in which Dalinar proves that he could be helpful in political situations in his own brutal way :P
Dalinar's favorite knife with whitespine ivory on grip is missing, so he goes into storming highstorm to ask Teleb if he lent it to him :P
by instinct, he avoids large boulder.. too many instincts shown by MCs, may be Sanderson has hidden something in them too?.. he also sees a gargantuan figure moving on spindly glowing legs - thunderclast?
Gavilar speaking about Codes of War, 30+ years in flashback... his own thinking about kingdom and changes brought about by birth of Jasnah.. or something guiding even so far back because desolation was coming?

cords to bind

Kal and Sah have great discussion... I think there won't ever be a happy ending between humans and parshmen in this series, may be gruding accomodation.. but true cooperation? that seems unlikely..

Adolin makes a good joke :D relationships requiring investment - literally here as Shallan wants infused sphere :P anyway that leads to her observing that infused spheres long laster in Urithiru
hmm, parshmen from shattered plains too marching to Alethkar... led by yellow spren like the one with Kal? and they presumably got orders from the ancestors mentioned by Ulim?
Thanadal and Vamah stayed back to control the warcamps in shattered plains? and for the gemhearts?
Shallan says Adolin is like Dalinar and that gets Adolin thinking and worrying.. but talking of secrets, Shallan is happy to let it be..
at least in part one, both Mraize and Mr. T didn't do stuff to get us worried.. and we don't even know for sure they'd do something (that we consider as) bad

the darkness within

the 'chicken' with Mraize - I agree with speculations that it is probably like the one in Sixth of Dusk.. also inevitably I think of Braize when his name comes up
Adolin does give back more than he gets from Ialai here and I like it obviously
ppl who've watched Rajni movies can't but help think of famous Padayappa scene, a lady sitting with no chair for the guest..
why does Mraize think Shallan has sensed the wrongness in Urithiru? and he says info on Helaran will be payment for the task of expunging the darkness
noice, Shallan fetches tea, but not for Ialai :P but Ialai isn't one to be fazed.. she would wager that it was someone in Kholin camp who killed Sadeas.. she know or doesn't about Adolin.. I keep thinking she'll be like Sevanna from WoT
Amaram is in Urithiru.. Shallan gapes.. can't wait what Kal will think when he comes back.. and speaking of coming back - the highstorm is back

storming strange

last chapter ends with highstorm coming and this chapter title storming has storming in it
caravans out of Revolar don't show up, presumably because parshmen in charge of that place now
have the two storms met again and caused havoc on land? or somehow stormfather timing to avoid meeting the everstorm on land?
hello yellow spren, who behaves a bit like Syl.. with Shin eyes.. why? even her walk relates to stone somehow.. how long the spren been in physical realm.. if it is since everstorm first came, it sure could speak and know lot more than Syl did intially

men of blood and sorrow

stormfather annoyed to confirm that Evi's memories coming back is not his doing.. Dalinar had asked for his pain to be taken away, and memories were taken too..
Tukari reply: warning, from Tezim the Great, last and first man, Herald of Heralds, bearer of Oathpact... none are radiant but him, fury ignited because of unlawful capture of Urithiru..wants them to swear to him, only he can lead to deliverance..

uh, is that a drawing of darkness in Urithiru? interestingly has 9 figures
yet another chapter with fantastic lore telling by Mr. Sanderson - he should consider writing a lore collection book
Shallan creates so many illusions here(even one of Kal) and more realistic, a prelude to fight at end of part-1
pattern humming happily.. give us a SA animation series already, each chapter can be one or more episodes

blackthorn unleashed

well, we've seen Dalinar get blade in flashbacks.. though plate was in background... perhaps we'll see his bonding with Ryshadium in flashbacks to come
when asked for orders, Dalinar says to stay out of his way... some didn't and got killed..
too much Thrill brings redness to his vision.. will that come into picture with champion stuff? surge of strength - from Thrill? like he did in saving Elhokar from chasmfiend?
after killing Kalanor, a voice within - that's it? weren't we promised more? - looks like Vorin's been corrupted and instead of fighting for humans in Tranquiline Halls, they're for Odium instead
Dalinar manages to come out of Thrill seeing Gavilar's welcome and promises to himself to never be king.. well you'll be highking instead :D

playing pretend

the sketches get creepier... give us a happy one
large gathering of enemy in Marat.. Iriali striking eastward (perhaps seize Rira, Babatharnam).. areas like Triax continue to go dark
those in Kholinar started working when highstorm came, but then cut off - enemy seems to locate spanreeds.. wow, if spanreeds go out of operation all over the world, it will isolate Urithiru from contacting them and vice versa.. like cutting off phone/internet connection for us
how did Kal manage to send a glyph.. probably their group haven't got orders regarding spanreeds
really find it difficult to believe Perel looked similar to Sadeas, was wandering near that area alone... that too within day/days of Sadeas murder.. with Rock, being Horneater with similar build(not similar look) is acceptable.. any Horneater in that area at that time could've got stabbed..
thanks Adolin for spilling the beans.. still better him than Kal trying to tell Shallan :P crazy prediction, Shallan knew about what Helaran was doing? may be he knew as well that Shallan was KR? that'll be a truth she has to speak to progress?

Azir stubborn, will try to close the portal instead of accept Dalinar's help.. Fen spurns too.. and he thinks again if only he could speak in person..
Lyn with important news again.. Stormfather quick to thunder noticing Dalinar carrying Oathbringer..the spren hates him less than others and so doesn't scream as loudly.. and Dalinar asks the question we've been expecting of Adolin.. but stormfather says he knows of no way..
Amaram calls Dalinar a hypocrite and I do find myself agreeing in a way..
Dalinar goes to his room to cool down and finds Mr. T by the heating fabrial.. Dalinar quotes from TWoK and Mr. T too mentions hypocrisy..
surprisingly, stormfather initiates conversation.. saying Nohadon was good man.. and Dalinar delivers a punch - sometimes hypocrite is a person in the process of changing :)
Dalinar wants to see vision with Nohadon again, mentions fetching Navani to record.. and just like that stormfather asks if he should show the vision to Navani as well :D took you long enough
and best part is Dalinar need not be in storm.. so Fen and others, be very prepared in coming highstorms

interesting that Shallan presents Veil as another of her own employees :D

I feel like there is continuity issue here or may be just not mentioned... Kal must have come after their fight with Unmade (can't imagine him not joining), he came with the storm, which should have come after the fight as well.. narrow gap to fit in all..

last desolation battlefield.. Stoneward changing rock itself.. a surge Dalinar can use, but serve differently.. men are fighting alongside voidbringers..
today's guests - Navani and Jasnah.. Navani has buillied a radiant to look at fabiral :P and thinks they have been viewing the ancient fabirals wrongly :D
I think this battlefield is in shinovar.. 9 blades in stone.. so Heralds already gone.. Dalinar realizes Heralds had lied, enemy not defeated for good..
stormfather's view of events is distorted.. relates the story how desolations started - many souls of creatures who had been slain, angry and terrible.. given great power by Odium... start of desolations..when they died, refused to pass on.. stormform aided by spren of parshmen long dead..some of these spren are mere forces now.. fragments of minds given power by Odium..others were more awake..each rebirth further injures their minds..
reborn using bodies of parshmen to become Fused..even before Fused learned to use surges, men couldn't fight them..creatures men killed were reborn.. and so came Oathpact..
10 ppl became Heralds.. gave themselves up.. Odium is sealed by powers of Honor and Cultivation, Heralds sealed the spren of dead into damnation (Braize?).. Heralds went to Honor who gave them this right, this oath.. they thought it would end war forever, but they and Honor were wrong..
Honor let power blind him to truth.. spren and gods can't break oaths, but men can and will.. 10 Heralds sealed in damnation, trapping voidbringers.. however, if any one agreed to bend oath and let voidbringers past, it opened flood and all could return.. which started a desolation
Heralds were tortured by spirits they trapped, could share pain because of bond.. but eventually someone always yielded
once one broke, all 10 Heralds returned to Roshar.. fought, led men.. Oathpact delayed Fused from returning immediately.. but each time after desolation, Heralds returned to Damnation to seal enemy again.. (all the sealing enemy stuff reminds strongly of WoT obviously :P)
cycle repeated, at first respite between desolations was long, 100s of years.. but later came separated less than 10 years.. less than 1 years between last two.. souls of Heralds worn thin..broke almost as soon as they were caught and tortured in damnation
Fused, souls of dead from long ago, they loathe you(meaning humans?).. not rational..become permeated with Odium's essence, pure hatred..they will see this world destroyed in order to destroy mankind.. they have returned now
after each desolation, those who died automatically went to damnation.. those who survived went back willingly..been warned that if any lingered, it could lead to disaster..any they needed to be together in damnation to share the burden of torture if one was captured..by luck or cowardice, only Taln died in last desolation..
the nine living realized that one of them had never broken..each of the nine had at some point been one to give in..they determined perhaps they didn't all need to return..decided to stay here, risking eternal desolation.. but hoping Taln would alone be enough to hold it all together..he wasn't meant to have joined them in first place, wasn't king/scholar/general
Dalinar realizes it really was Taln, the madman who showed up with blade.. Oathpact has been weakened almost to annihilation, Odium has created his own storm.. Fused who're killed do not return to damnation now, reborn in next everstorm..
stormfather confirms that the blade Dalinar got wasn't honorblade, doesn't know what happened.. Dalinar wants to speak to madman now, but of course he ain't there anymore.. good luck asking Amaram :D
Navani asks if this caused KRs to rebel, cause Recreance - nope says stormfather, deeper secret that..he won't speak because they'll abandon oaths like the KRs
a Shin man stumbles upon the honorblades.. will Dalinar realize the significance of that?
wonder what Jasnah learns here.. and I guess this chapter will be over analyzed to death in fandom, looking for clues..

Questions, peeks and inferences

at least two major institutions on Roshar, other than ourselves, which presaged return of voidbringers and desolations..
one is Sons of Honor, with Gavilar as driving force in their expansion..brought in Amaram..worked to return desolations.. so that Heralds will show up.. restore KRs and strength of Vorin church..effort to cause desolations likely the reason he was assassinated..though others in palace that night had reason to see him dead
second is Skybreakers, who knew desolations might return..led by Nale..they didn't betray their oaths during Recreance..maintained continuous clandestine line from ancient days.. Nale believed other KRs coming would hasten return of voidbringers..
Heralds not be seen as allies to man any longer..those not completely insane have been broken..Nale ruthless and last two decades or longer, dealing with anyone close to bonding a spren(how'd he find them all).. somtimes he recruited and made them skybreakers(how!!!!!).. used minions to help.. like Helaran
her mom had intimate contact with Skybreaker acolyte, Helaran recruited because Nale was impressed..and also learned that one of her family was close to bonding a spren..believed Helaran was the one they wanted..
Helaran not yet proven worthy of spren bond, might have been sent as a test or by himself went to kill Amaram
they also possibly suspected someone in Amaram's army close to bonding spren(Kal).. but likelier that attack on Amaram simply because he was Sons of Honor..
from spying on Skybreakers, ghostbloods have records showing only member of Amaram's army to have bonded spren was eliminated (oh, so many complications leading to Kal avoiding Nale's attention.. but if Nale found other radiants, Kal should still have been noticed in shattered plains - anyway ghostbloods feel bridgeman was not known to them and thus wasn't killed)
and pattern helpfully says, secrets - lies in the letter :D

end of part two.. no idea when this part was going to end, I simply thought something else will be awesome ending.. and now I feel underwhelmed by Odium interactions... seriously it is weird to feel much about him.. it requires on-screen time and details.. Ialai/Amaram/Mraize/etc feel more immediately threatening than Odium.. haven't been able to imagine what it took for other shards to be splintered.. and what about Adonalsium shattering.. just events without proper foundation to feel their significance and associated emotions..

interlude 4 - Kaza

on a ship, plunge into storm (not matching either highstorm/everstorm) and come out safely.. going towards nothern section of Aimia to plunder riches on hidden islands..

the cook of course is Aimian.. Kaza dies her own way, soulcasts rock beneath her and goes with it..

Mr. T avoids and asks if she knows about stormlight growth.. from the Urithiru calculations, determines if food grew naturally it cannot provide to self sustain the entire tower
she pushes out Adrotagia saying he wont make policy decisions and wont order murdering groups of melodic children
gets back to work again on Blackthorn.. wonders if he should go for another assassination..
surgeon's words: cord wrapped around Mr. T's neck.. queen will know best course, but regret to inform that when he lives, might have diminished capacity..
that didn't happen but reputation persisted.. almost has answers for Dalinar.. shouldn't kill him..support coalition, then force him to step down so that Mr. T himself can be head of monarchs.. but that conclusion by changing original Diagram itself..
push Blackthorn so hard that he collapses.. will need secrets to use against him.. Mr. T says they can use Malata's spren to spy..
with Mr. T as head, they'll negotiate with Odium.. who'll be bound by agreement made by laws of spren and gods.. but but Mr. T, I think you need to be bondsmith as well
Diagram is clear, cannot beat Odium.. hence the alternate negotiations.. save whatever they can..

interlude 6 - this one is mine

they're in stormform, so perhaps will become Fused? Ulim insists upon embracing, welcoming, wanting.. or powers will not able to take place in their gemhearts (Intent stuff?)
don't fully understand.. Venli transformed, but not like the others, who are very tall now.. they say Odium rides the very winds like enemy(Honor?) once did.. take strange names.. say this feels good

so that'll be the ending of this book? big fight in Kholinar - just like first two books, clash between listeners and humans.. getting repetitive like desolations

Rial is among guards again...just a guard who is interesting (I'd prefer this) in his ways or someone impersonating? ghostbloods/Ialai/world-hopper/etc or even Wit.. does the Diagram incorporate for these organizations/world-hoppers/etc? how about Ialai now assassinating Dalinar to put Mr. T's solution go to pieces? :D
they think one could use the oathgates to travel between any city without coming to Urithiru, but don't know how
Kal/Shallan emerged (from Thaylen) after Malata uses the blade to engage the oathgate.. they'd transferred only control building, not entire platform.. so it reduces stormlight needed - interesting Kal-Shallan stuff happening off screen :-/
Kal says Fen is prepared to meet Dalinar..Shallan goes to Urithiru..Dalinar asks Kal if the highstorm flight went well.. no probs, says Kal.. so next storm, Kal and co will go to Kholinar..
Dalinar accepts something strange is going on.. Kal had said parshmen gathering moving towards Kholinar.. they have Fused too.. so isn't it very great risk to send just small team there?
Kal has been given some land, now that he is shardbearer..after talking he goes to Urithiru too
Dalinar, Navani, Mr. T, Adrotagia and Malata go to Thaylen City..which is all broken courtesy everstorm..wooden docks completely ruined.. Kharbranth not ruined like this due to slightly southern orientation..

hmm epigraphs are accounts of KRs.. personal details.. guess we'll have wait longer for details that might help current KRs

stormfather says it was Dalinar himself, able to speak different languages in the visions.. then what about Fen, Gawx, Navani, Jasnah?
anyway, using Spiritual Adhesion, Dalinar can now speak Azish.. I suppose this plays a role for worldhoppers too
the wooden structures remind Dalinar of Rathalas/Rift and when he goes back to Urithiru, entire memory has re-surfaced.. similar to first time he could hear Evi again - Navani again calling for healers.. but but but Dalinar can use stormlight to heal :P

Adolin again shows his war learnings.. main takeaway being Kal should learn to use other weapons than spear too..

Evi has noticed Dalinar's eyes when he feels the Thrill - horrible, terrifying nothingness.. creature with no heart, feasting upon souls to fill that void, dragging painspren in his wake.. it haunts Evi
well, that exchange with Tanalan and what followed.. very intriguing.. I guess Sanderson is setting up to deliver a nice twist

rockfall

Shallan and co have come to a stone mansion..rockfall.. waterfall soulcasted as crystal..another turned to wood..
they've come to steal from mansion's larder.. Shallan overdoes impersonating the mansion's Brightness Nananav.. but manages to stop before doing something very bad.. Veil says Shallan's head is a frightening place... maybe she will really do something bad/stupid soon enough
pattern happily plays his part in confusing others..
before escaping, their theft had been discovered.. so they try to run.. but chulls go at chull speed :P
Shallan adopts Nananav's face again, even creating illusionary boiling sprens, real Nananav screams and flees.. a guard hits Shallan in the head with crossbow bolt..
her own team members get very afraid of Shallan... she heals but bolt gets stuck.. so blacks out when it is pulled off.. crazy Shallan.. wonder what Adolin would say is he'd seen this :D
Wit left a note where they had food, still trying to get contact.. so Shallan now thinks may be she doesn't need to wait for Wit.. am sure this will end nicely :D :(

Cult is passing by.. Shallan does something to act like swiftspren.. using the spren she'd noticed around skyeels (and Santhid IIRC)

she tells the Cult to stop dancing and be men/women again..uses light tricks and they flee.. some throwing the costumes..
Shallan trembles, she'd become one of them so easily when she acted as swiftspren trying to know the Cult

I am having SA dreams, last night had one where Shallan was trying to get a feel for Wit's personality to use as illusion, doesn't go well for her :D and somehow, within dream wondered that Wit can't hurt her in physical realm, so he hurt her in cognitive realm?
there were others too.. I had seen this chapter title before sleeping, dreamt something like Dalinar goes and butchers the ppl in wagon pointed out by Tanalan and in the heat of Thrill kills Evi too when she comes to meet him, witnessed by Kadash
well, it is an ambush.. but he does kill them all in Thrill.. going back he sees armies of red mist from corner of his vision - glimpse into Damnation?
others thought he was dead, Dalinar plans to kill everybody in Rift.. Sadeas encourages it.. somehow I think he did play a role in the ambush :P

an envoy is leaving Rift, flag of truce.. Dalinar orders them killed
Amaram is there too..
Dalinar wants to stop at one point but Sadeas has ensured there won't be any escape
Evi had gone to broker a peace deal.. but Dalinar killed the envoy.. Evi was still inside and now she's dead too

on the retreat, he hears parshendi songs..Kal lashes to save his men, many fall to parshendi.. Kal lands in front of his men.. and before he could begin his work of death, he sees Sah.. so Moash at last?
Sja-anat tells Ashertmarn fled on purpose.. it is a trap..Sja was compelled to touch spren of this device..won't function as Shallan wishes..
Sah and Khen also don't want to fight Kal.. then it all turns mad.. everybody fighting while Kal is confused.. feel an ideal coming up ;)
he bellows to them to stop killing each other.. Sah rams Beard with spear.. Noro runs through Jali..queen's guard manages to injure Elhokar's arm, who drops shardblade.. holding his son close..
Noro kills Sah, Khen kills Noro.. numb, he thinks to get to Elhokar.. who in turn is holding sheet of paper.. stutters first ideal..but before he finishes, Moash (gloom clinging to him) runs Elhokar through the chest.. it is a mess.. Gav is the one mentioned in death-rattles?
Moash stabs Elhokar through eye as well, waiting until glow around Elhokar fades, shardblade clangs to ground.. he'd shoved Gav aside earlier.. Moash kicks the blade aside..looks to Kal and makes bridge four salute..
Kal's remaining men escape, queen's guard scoops Gav..Azure's men limped back before growing parshman armies
queen transforms, strange crystal formations having pierced her skin like carapace..chest glowing bright with gemstone..
Skar and Drehy drive them back.. Adolin grabs Kal..

Kal back to being dazed.. Syl protectively rests a hand.. says Kal is not well.. this is your change Syl, mother him :).. and Kal comes out a bit, says he has to be well.. asks how to get to safety..
Azure tells about inverse nature.. Adolin points out river.. beads rattle and big things with claws emerged in many directions...heartbeat begins sounding, rattling the beads..
Adolin thinks this is damnation for sure despite what others told

Shallan using stormlight doesn't attract notice like Kal's did..with pattern's suggestion, she used bead of a shield.. which she then uses as a guide to get others beads to lock together as imitation of shield.. pattern could jump on it without sinking..
she asks for Azure's sword, and others to help.. asking Kal to see if he can brood this place into submission :P :P.. and she's trying to suppress what happened at Kholinar.. to focus on task at hand
searching, Shallan touches various objects and even Drehy.. finally spots one that could help.. oathgate control building.. asks others to hop onto the roof.. Kal is carrying a pack.. what's in it?
with another bead representing a door and this building, they progressed towards land(river).. eel-like spren followed them.. others let them pass without much notice.. pattern says emotions on other side helping them
the spren of Oathgates been corrupted by Odium, that's why they ended up in shadesmar.. Sja-anat had spoken true..
Adolin feels useless.. Kal is even worse.. Adolin takes his pack.. Kal says he survived bridge 4, he's strong enough to survive this

why he froze

hmm, we get a Kal flashback.. his time in Amaram's army.... he froze because he knew he could hurt/kill.. not out of fear.. we see him talking to Tukks
yay for Syl's quips... she finds Pattern strange because he's nice :P
Syl tries to cheer him up with talking and quips.. but nope.. Kal had never locked up in real combat.. and that has got him in all sorts of knots..

water warm as blood

test of some sort.. some criminals have escaped, they have to be executed.. Szeth asks questions
talking to Nightblood, he says he knew a voice like Nightblood's once.. a single one, in his mind..when he was young..
Szeth catches one escaped convict.. fights and manages to knock him out.. asks a few questions and leaves him to drown..
Nightblood calls that cruel..and says Vivenna used to tell that cruelty is only for men as is mercy.. beasts cannot choose.. goes on about Shashara, Vasher, etc and Szeth thinks he meant Shalash..
Szeth determines the nobleman who'd called the skybreakers to be worst of criminals.. uses Nightblood to kill him.. it drained his spheres, was painful to use and even drained something of his color.. Nightblood of course gleefully munched
Nightblood asks Szeth if he was drawn.. tells Vivenna never drew him even once.. Szeth figures out Nightblood sense of time is greatly skewed
Ki is satisfied with and takes him on as squire.. Szeth asks another question before swearing second ideal.. and now can draw stormlight.. all this without bonded to spren.. other Skybreakers accept the words and thats it..

kata

Adolin wakes with cricks and pains.. thinks about Sadeas murder.. and curses seeing his spren staying so close to him
Adolin tries to talk to his sword as usual..but of course no response.. he is not feeling anything from the beads, only dull impression of something red..
he sighs about not knowing things.. and starts morning kata..to loosen his muscles and to calm himself
Azure joins and does the kata with him exactly..and then Kal joins of course.. it is like meditation for Adolin
Shallan asks if they are dancing :P Azure asks where Adolin learned that kata.. from his swordmaster... likewise for Azure :P well done Zahel :P
Adolin spots his swordspren standing on the coast, looking at her feet..
supply list.. one bag of gemstones, roughly half stormlight used up in coming to island.. satchel, charcoal, reed pens, brushes, ink, lacquer, some solvents, 3 sketchpads, sharpening knife, jar of jam for emergency snack..Adolin's side knife.. Azure's blade the only real weapon..
Kal says something, Shallan turns it around to him :P.. but his pack does have travel rations.. combining all their ration packs, they have maybe one day's worth of water and 3 meals for 4 ppl..
Azure says last time she crossed shadesmar, it took 4 weeks.. Adolin notices her scars have faded and hair back to dark coloring..
Azure says there's another way to transfer between realms, she's obviously used it.. tells she's from far land, came to Roshar by crossing shadesmar.. come on ppl, ask more questions.. you need to know about worlds elsewhere :-/
anyway, she came chasing someone, a criminal..she thought she'd get info from Wall Guards..things went wrong and she got stuck..she used Cultivation's perpendicularity.. Horneater Peaks.. another one(Honor's) appears randomly in different places..guides warned against it
Kal asks who were the guides - spren of course..not those like fear/pain spren.. people spren.. (like Syl and Pattern)
Adolin asks the obvious question about her blade.. nope, not KR or Herald, and the sword has not spren because it's flawed.. can't summon/dismiss..handy though, pale copy of shardblades..
when she last crossed this place, she hired a ship..sailed by spren, hired at one of their cities..
lightspren are usually guides..they like to travel, sail across Roshar's shadesmar.. peddling goods, trading with other spren..and supposed to watch out for Cryptics :P Pattern hums happily..

Dalinar thinks it will be Thaylen.. ships would come into play as well.. Amaram is there.. Kal's vision had pointed to Thaylen.. Nale and Szeth in Marat.. Sanderson avalance has started I suppose

Shallan requests and gets permission to handle the beads.. but no using stormlight.. they were let out because it wasn't honorable to keep them as prisoners :P
anyway, she gets much needed practice for soulcasting..
voidsprens are creating their own empire in shadesmar, they control Cultivation's perpendicularity...
Azure's blade is more and more similar to Nightblood.. easing a bit from the sheath will bring something to investigate..
Azure and honorspren agree a deal to trade knowledge, once they reach their destination - Lasting Integrity.. in exchange she gets passage and info on Nightblood..as well as Vasher
Adolin notices Shallan's having trouble.. hugs her while she tells about her different personalities..
and then tells he killed Sadeas :D.. she doesn't tell about her doings though.. feels Dalinar is better off not knowing.. and finds peace, only for Kal to make noises and disturb :P
before Honor's death, he stopped creating honorspren..and asked stormfather to do it instead..stormfather created a few, all save Syl became deadeyes..then made 10 more after centuries..
Kal is thinking about ideals and what demands the 4th would do to him.. something crystallizes.. pinpricks of light.. mistspren near him gasps..whispers something in awe..
that leads to Syl contacting him.. because she feels his mind..stronger than usual..tell's he's close to 4th ideal.. the pinpricks are windspren
windspren are not common in shadesmar.. captain honorspren hasn't seen one before.. says they're beautiful..
Kal mentions Dalinar is bonded to stormfather.. says he needs to keep his oath.. gets to tell his dialogue again - Honor is dead
and finally, Adolin mentions Shallan gaping at Kal..

kadal means sea in tamil.. Neshua Kadal is parshendi for KRs.. Venli going to be one? may be bondsmith since stormfather had noticed her for some reason?
okay, Renarin did try infusing the gemstone pillar, didn't work... I am guessing Bondsmith has to do something :P
they get confirmation from Fen that enemy is building navy at Marat..
Dalinar meets Venli in the vision and asks the cost of truce... not much time to talk as Odium arrives and tears things..

Dalinar somehow keeps things stable around him, not falling towards the rip in sky..
and Timbre is here too, fighting against wind in an attempt to reach her..bursts of light exploded from the spren in frantic rings
Timbre begins to slide back, Venli moves and snatches..
Kholinar mostly crumbles, except the spot held by Dalinar..chasm opens beneath her and she falls before reaching Dalinar.. he jumps into chasm..manages to touch Venli and send her back to cave in Marat..Timbre safe too
Odium forms figure of gold and white (strangely inverse of white and gold of honorspren ship? :P), holding scepter(important?) and asks what Dalinar was seeing
tells Dalinar that he'll destroy Roshar and Odium will rebuild it..

she uses the cord Vstim gave her to tie around the ruby, attaching to her ankle.. then started pulling along the shelves.. Chiri-Chiri is feasting on the ruby :P gonna transform with such huge amounts?
the guard comes with bloody sword..Chiri moves with blinding speed to distract..and feeds - dark violet light.. so it is a Fused come to thieve?
she kills the Fused with crossbow bolt.. Chiri is bigger.. she pulls herself toward vault door - Vstim as well second set of keys
so, will the dark violet light affect Chiri? is Nightblood similar to what Chiri-Chiri does?

assuming it was Mr. T and co, as they would have known blade secret as well as what would happen at the meet.. but can't rule out Ialai and her spies or Mraize..
but given Rysn interlude, it could well be parshmen, so as to use oathgates? and wondering what sort of clues I missed in earlier chapters

Dalinar less than a day off from visiting Nightwatcher in The Valley.. hope to get some details.. something happened during the storm, but Dalinar doesn't remember..
Felt had visiter Nightwatcher, tells Dalinar to go after dark, alone.. it is upto Nightwatcher to visit the seekers..
plenty of plant life and chickens.. Dalinar goes alone after dark.. hears voices..sees himself killing Elhokar, conquering and burning villages in Vorin kingdoms..
Nightwatcher comes, asks what boon drives him.. Son of Honor, Son of Odium.. Dalinar whispers for 'forgiveness'
she continues to give options he'd want.. mentions about a blade that bleeds darkness and cannot be defeated(Nightblood?) tells forgiveness is no boon..
another voice, 'that is enough, child' startles them both.. Nightwatcher calls her mother.. so Cultivation? woman with brown skin.. matronly build..
the woman says the boon is beyong Nightwatcher and asks Dalinar to attend to herself instead.. has come for first time in centuries..
am gonna assume it is Cultivation, given Dalinar sees eternity in her and stormfather mentioned Dalinar met her
Cultivation says she will give him a pruning, careful excision to let him grow.. cost will be high.. ofcourse Dalinar is ready for anything
in doing so, Cultivation is providing a weapon for Him(Odium?)..dangerous, very dangerous..yet all things must be cultivated..what she takes from him will grow back eventually(the reason why Dalinar gets his memory back?) it is part of the cost..it would do her well to have part of him..even if ultimately he becomes His..Dalinar was always bound to come to her..she controls all things that can be grown, nurtured..that includes the thorns..
so Dalinar is Son of all three now eh? Honor, Odium, Cultivation.. and clue that Dalinar indeed becomes being with 9 unmade shadows
boon is removing voices but cost is all of Evi gone too
Dalinar feels very very tired next morning..doesn't remember what had happened.. but finds he can't remember Evi at all..

Jasnah thinks Thaylen City is lost..hopes Amaram's soldiers would soak up arrows/spears long enough for civilians to evacuate.. then tells herself to focus on what she could do.. she has pressing matter to deal with, Ivory says facts align.. a traitor is.. goes to temple of Pailiah'Elin, finds Renarin alone
spren rises from Renarin's back, bright red, shimmering like heat of mirage.. crystalline structure..not the spren of Truthwatchers..Jasnah summons Ivory as blade
Venli sees singers from different nationalities, but frightened, uncertain.. she's given a sword for defence
parshmen from Thaylen City are unwilling to attack their home..ask that can they not settle elsewhere? seems like Alethi parshmen were quick to attack given the nature of Alethi and these from Thaylen have known fishing more than warring
Venli sees Alethi troops and thinks it will be a slaughter.. then feels something odd, ghostly spren fill the area around her, Fused who haven't yet chosen a body..two of them roughly the size of buildings..and one tall as small hill..made of red smoke..Venli was seeing into another world(cognitive realm?).. and Odium has come personally to supervise
Teft is trying to hide..the spren is still following him.. he sees parshmen coming from Kholinar oathgate.. so they were the ones to steal honorblade? where'd they get another to open from their side? KR helping them?
Navani thinks situation is not so bad, they can defend.. and then a thunderclast comes :P finally Jasnah scene coming up :)
Venli sees thunderclasts awaken..Fused are kneeling to Odium.. one of them fears for the armies.. Odium says they are here only to watch.. the big spren became real..looks like red mist.. Thrill..
Kal and co see the largest spren vanishing from Shadesmar..all the spren have gone to physical realm.. 6 Fused to guard..Kal says he'll distract them while Shallan can try to work the Oathgate.. Adolin ask if he's not worried where that army went?
Odium has brought the spren to bond the Sadeas army who've been wanting vengeance for his death.. look what you've done Adolin :P.. is that Amaram who's been bonded and glowing red?

alone

Kal goes alone to battle the six Fused.. drawing in stormlight and lashing himself for the first time in long time
Dalinar is going to join and feels Thrill.. No, he whispers.. thunderclast is moving towards gemstone reserves and Dalinar decides to go investigate what this is all about
the thunderclast attacks the reserve, million sparkling bits of glass catch sunlight as they fell over city, the wall and beyond
the Fused take Kind's Drop from Rysn..Dalinar wonders why simple gemstone was taken.. and then sees Sadeas army with glowing red eyes
Jasnah and Ivory realize it is spren of Odium bonded to Renarin, who is whispering, no..not father, no please
Shallan weaves light..about 20 individuals..Kal has drawn 4 Fused away.. Adolin goes along with illusions and Syl, Pattern, dead eyes.. which attracts the attention of remaining two Fused..Shallan slips to base of bridge..and steps up beneath the two sentinels of oathgate.. the sketch before this chapter is of this scene
air around Venli has cleared of spirits of dead, except single black figure of swirling smoke, near Odium.. Venli is asked to move forward, might be needed to speak for Odium.. King's Drop is just a precaution to avoid potential disaster.. I think the dark spirit is going to inhabit Dalinar and nobody would be able to prevent it..
Kal has managed to pry a lance from the Fused, even as he admires the way they move
Gawx feels they should go help Dalinar.. Lift had escaped before coming here.. early news comes that Alethi army is attacking Thaylen.. so they decide to flee.. Gawx wonders he and Lift both been wrong..
the sentinels refuse Shallan to use the portal, they are locked by word of their dead parent..(Honor? KRs before Recreance?) Adolin is acting like an illusion himself :D
Szeth hovering far above battlefield.. Nale is with him.. Nale asks whose law should be followed, original land owners parshmen or those of humans? Nightblood is itching to fight
Kal is managing well enough against the Fused, seemed like one Fused issues a challenge.. but then Kal's stormlight runs out

Lift joins Dalinar and is told to steal back King's Drop
Dalinar goes to meet Odium.. and is ready.. I didn't expect this to be happening this book itself..
Adolin's act is discovered and rammed in the gut.. I expected him to die, but his spren acts to distract the Fused
the other Fused attacks Shallan who manages to dive away..by instinct holds out for Pattern but of course that won't work..but somehow manages to erect a wall..using bead she'd used to cross the sea below..felt like soulcasting but different..pattern comes humming..
Shallan thinks she took the soul of wall and made its physical form appear here.. she finds Adolin severly wounded, Kal has fallen into beads..she falls into the beads with Adolin
yay, Lift POV..she imagines something crass as usual.. figures Wyndle ain't a voidbringer, but those parshmen looking Fused.. she reaches the Fused carrying the Drop (no stormlight though, Chiri drank it all? :O).. and she too thinks the Fused are more awesome than her
Nale says the skybreakers will swear to Dawnsingers.. what about Szeth? .. he asks if he can follow a person instead of law.. yup.. Szeth is gonna follow Dalinar :D
Syl leads Kal to a bank..Shallan and co have followed him..Kal checks on Adolin.. intestines are cut..Fused are coming.. Adolin wants to fight.. Kal thinks maybe they can surrender..Syl nods to Kal to say the words
Dalinar challenges Odium for contest.. freedom for Odium vs their lives.. Odium says as bondsmith Dalinar can offer this deal..but is that truly what Dalinar wishes of Odium?
human army grumbling at the delay as opening into city wasn't big enough for all of them to go at once.. so will they butcher each other?
Lift tries to imitate the Fused, feels for a moment to be gliding between worlds.. thunderclast sends her crashing..the Alethi are still trying to kill her, so she dodges towards the thunderclast..she gets crushed..heals slowly, running out of stormlight..summons Wyndle and holds towards the monster..
Szeth becomes her savior.. explosion of light, trailing black/white smoke, glowing like star hits the monster on head and cut straight through..halves of monster fell to sides, crashing into stone and burned away..Nightblood is feeding on the smoke :D
asks if Lift has been given task by Blackthorn.. yup, need to steal a large ruby back.. so he asks her to stand, his master has given a task to complete :)
Navani, Fen and Kmakl get captured by Sadeas's men..they feel they'll get handsome reward even if they can't kill them personally
and look who's here.. Ash herself! let's see what a Herald can do.. but first destroys another art of her.. dark dangerous day, as Odium has always tempted men to fight for him, but now bonded with spren..and storm of his own..thinks the land is finally doomed and that she couldn't care any longer..finds Taln.. (so Amaram was still keeping him close eh)
Glys was corrupted before Renarin formed their bond..he knew his death was coming as Jasnah strikes him down..what he sees happens no matter what, but still hopes Dalinar won't do it
Odium accepts contest of champions for fate of Roshar..and Dalinar is his champion.. man who will win no matter the cost..Thrill overwhelms him..

the weight of it all

Dalinar whispers No again..Odium asks what Evi says as Dalinar hears her voice..Odium says he made Dalinar kill Evi..caused all of this..going to help him remember.. but still Dalinar refuses to let Odium have the pain, hugging TWoK.. Odium then shows him the day he killed Evi
Szeth has put faith on Dalinar to know who should die.. not him nor Nightblood.. he is laying waste to Amaram's army..some voice tells him to remember the gemstone..phantom sense(Thrill?) calls him to revel in the butchery, but Szeth rejects..he had never enjoyed this
the Fused with gemstone snatches Nightblood's sheath from Szeth and uses it to block him..Nightblood is craving for destruction..black veins grow around Szeth's hand..
hmm Jasnah has still not actually struck down Renarin who is continuing to whisper about Dalinar..Ivory says Renarin sees what is to come, has Odium's power..
Ash has no luck with Taln who is still repeating about desolation to come, preparation, etc
Kal is struggling to say the words even as windspren appear around him..
Lift goes to Szeth who is being consumed by Nightblood..and he is unable to drop it..
Navani uses fabrial to induce pain on her captors, like thousand needles being shoved into skin, under nail, into eyes.. gets a gash in her arm..uses painrial to ignore it :P
Dalinar lives in two places..sees Rift scenes..clutches TWoK denying Odium.. but lightning from everstorm destroys it..sun is now hidden behind clouds and all fell into darkness
Teft is hiding while there is fighting going on.. bridge four dying
Kal is recalling ppl he'd seen fallen
Dalinar falls to his knees.. gloryspren swirls around him but Odium bats them away.. whats with gloryspren being batted by all in this book :P
stormfather is weeping too..Odium continues to tell him to let go, give it to him, blah blah blah
Lift takes Szeth's head in her hands and tries to heal him..eyes go wide as black veins began to grow up her fingers and hands
Renarin doesn't want to die but finds himself welcoming Jasnah's strike.. rather than see Blackthorn return with black armor and nine shadows..says Dalinar has fallen
Odium steps back to say it is done..Dalinar is now leader of Fused and their army..
Amaram comes to deliver Nightblood's sheath.. Odium gives him uncut smokestone to swallow, so that Yelig-nar gets another housing.. Aesudan was consumed.. Amaram asks if he can kill Dalinar.. someday, says Odium..assuming Dalinar doesn't kill Amaram.. asks Dalinar to stand and claim the station he was born to obtain, pain has passed
Kal is not strong enough to say the words..Adolin is bleeding..Syl pulls him tight as Kal sobs at his failure
Jasnah doesn't strike after all.. remember her time with Renarin as kids..wind blows through the temple, carrying with it pair of spren in form of golden spheres..pulls Renarin in an embrace, telling they'll find a way to fix it..
Ivory says somehow this was right.. Renarin realizes what he sees can be wrong
Dalinar has a gloryspren in his fist.. most important step a man can take is not the first, but the next one, always the next one.. tells 'you cannot have my pain'
Oh Sanderson, why you do this? please don't write a horror or dark fantasy book, these chapters have been dark enough..

Odium screams.. (and somehow Voldemort comes to mind :D) stumbles back, asking to kill/attack Dalinar..

Amaram summons his blade..Dalinar says he could change too.. nope says Amaram..won't be forgiven by Him..
raises Oathbringer, portion of light split from Dalinar's column..light meets blade with explosion of sparks.. throws Amaram back..light resolves into Kal with Syl as spear..Shallan follows with thin blade and then Adolin..
Lift manages to hold until gemstones come alive and Nightblood is slaked by the stormlight..Lift now hears Nightblood's voice :D
Szeth face and Lift's arms are crisscrossed with lines where vines had been.. both walk to column of light
Dalinar knows Elhokar ain't coming..accepts the grief..opens his eyes and column of gloryspren fade..feels exhausted but field is littered with infused gemstones

Renarin rushes to Adolin and heals him.. Lift and Szeth join too.. Szeth scoops the silvery sheath and puts Nightblood in it..
Dalinar counts to find 7 KRs are with him now.. stormfather points two more behind Jasnah..the Heralds
Odium has retreated into nothingness..Fused are remaining though.. Amaram is still alive...as well as strange spren like black smoke..Thrill still encompassed north side of landing near water..
Dalinar thinks there should be one more.. asks Renarin to stop the thunderclast from destroying oathgate and open the portal.. asks Shallan to lightweave an army to distract soldiers consumed by Thrill.. asks Jasnah to hold big hole in wall and stop anyone trying to get through..asks Kal to protect him from Amaram..asks Lift to retrieve the ruby along with Szeth(as told earlier)..she asks for food :P
Dalinar starts to walk toward water..to take away big stick brought by enemy
It is like Dalinar has suddenly turned into Dumbledore, knows what is what :P

the spear that would not break

Kal, alive with stormlight, lands near Amaram.. who's just swallowed something.. uh oh..Yelig-nar incoming
Adolin is being Adolin as usual.. asks Shallan to save the city as Radiant who creates an army of illusions.. he summons blade, no scream, says sorry and thanks and goes to help
Lift and Szeth are looking for the Fused with ruby.. Nightblood is his crazy self..starts humming after rambling about Vasher (where is he? fighting in Urithiru?)
Amaram has both Oathbringer and Helaran's blade..black smoke envelops Amaram and coming swinging with burst of speed.. Kal recognizes the smoke from Aesudan..
Dalinar steps into red mist, saying Hello old friend
all the ppl Shallan has sketched come.. even Yalb with glowing shardspear..pattern says she is close to them, close to realm of thought and beyond..all the ppl she has Connected over the years..her brothers come too..father, mother..which makes the illusions start to fail.. then Veil and Radiant seize her..other versions of herself try to come but she forces them off..farther out, 100s surged from ground and raise weapons at the enemy
Adolin sees Jasnah holding her own, geometric shapes outlining her.. leaves her to help a small group of beleagured Thaylen soldiers facing Amaram's soldiers and then Fen's son comes to ask Adolin's help
Jasnah is making full use of three realms still close after Dalinar had closed the perpendicularity..could easily see into cognitive realm and change soldiers at barest thought.. she's even horrified
Lift manages to find the Fused with ruby but that Fused flies off.. Lift lets loose her curses which impresses Nightblood.. Szeth moves to follow the Fused..manages to defeat the Fused and get the ruby.. but three more Fused now coming at him (noticed first by Nightblood :P)
Jasnah heals the wall :P Adolin gives instructions to hold it and goes to deal with cutting stone (thunderclast)
Kal is having difficulty guarding Dalinar as well as face Amaram.. Kal/Syl still haven't said anything about Szeth being alive again..
Dalinar relives his past with each step through the red mist.. that should be familiar for Aiel :P
Jasnah casually takes care of Fused while talking to Navani and Fen.. they have to hold the wall by conventional means once the stormlight runs out.. parshmen are now glowing red.. happy that both Renarin and Adolin are dealing with thunderclast, she'll now help her ward :P
what are Taln/Ash upto? nothing from them for long while..
why did the large ruby not fill with stormlight like the other gemstones??? Szeth hurls it away to escape the Fused, goes near Lift and recharges himself with stormlight.. Lift and Nightblood share a joke.. Lift's got an idea despite Szeth failing so far with the task given by Dalinar
Shallan is controlling 1000s of illusions, thinks she's somehow managed to combine both soulcasting and lightweaving.. drowns out Fused with sounds of screaming and metal on metal.. hear's a girl's voice - could she stop hugging herself for a minute, she needs some help.. who? Rysn?
Amaram is continuously transforming.. and even showing off KR skills.. trapping Kal and then gliding across.. Kal somehow still alive..Syl warns him of Fused getting close to Dalinar.. Kal manages to throw a stone..and then another at Amaram's horse..Kal's intention being to move the shardbow away
Syl suggest to stab Amaram in the face.. another Fused slams Kal with club.. did Amaram bring that Fused into play?
why did Szeth destory only one thunderclast? any, lets see what the Kholin bros will do..
Adolin is talking to the blade again..feels a stirring on the wind..hears a name - Mayalaran.. Maya in hindi has plenty of meaning, phantasm, allure, glamour, etc
manages to slice an ankle.. the monster cries out and slams a hand, Adolin dodges but the force makes him jump and he rolls.. face looks like chasmfiend.. manages to save a kid and then slice that ankle again.. a hand in shardplate grabs Adolin and pulls him inside
Dalinar accepts his past..thanks Thrill for giving him strength when he needed it..undestands the Thrill..
Venli chooses rhythm of lost, Timbre joins..vibrates through her entire being.. tries to say the first ideal but a Fused grabs and spins her..takes her pouch and turns it inside out..the Fused tells her to choose who she'll serve.. she chooses and now Timbre is within her..Timbre is keeping voidspren captive.. she can now drink stormlight :) completes the ideal
one of the Thaylen shardbearer has joined Adolin..asks him to distract the monster, he can take hits and Adolin can cut with blade
the Thaylen gets pinned by two Fused.. so Adolin throws Maya to kill one.. then manages to cut the monster's fingers but gets hit himself.. and then Maya comes even with 7 beats.. and then dogding a Fused, but falls in a heap courtesy thunderclast... Adolin manages to stand and falls into stonestance.. Renarin spots him and comes to heal, the thunderclast takes a step back.. Renarin says he can handle it and tells Adolin to please go :)
Renarin separates the monster's hand from wrist, heals more quickly than Adolin has seen Kal/Shallan do.. he gives his blade to the Thaylen shardbearer.. and still grabs a spear to go help others
Szeth had practised with all 10 surges.. one of Fused has slicked the ruby.. he attacks her knowing how she'll move, grabs the ruby in his jacket..
awesome, Lift and Szeth now have the real ruby while the Fused took from him a false one cut out of rock and covered in illusion :D
Szeth hears voice as nears the red mist, so asks Lift to deliver the ruby and goes to help Shallan..
Syl is improvising the shield, Kal manages to catch and throw Helaran's blade in vines.. the Fused whose arm Kal had cut charged him, arms regrown..
Amaram now can lash too.. they exchange words, Kal manages to see that Amaram still hurts.. after series of exchanges, he manages to hit Amaram's back with Sylhammer.. Amaram follows Kal with lashing, bad ploy... Kal strikes the crystal heart.. Amaram falls..climbs to his knees and the gemstone in his chest goes out.. 8 Fused come to attack Kal now
Glys helps Renarin finish off the thunderclast with stormlight.. Renarin still troubled that he's alive
Jasnah helps Shallan up the wall, unable to keep lecturing about soulcasting.. who was the girl though in previous POV of Shallan?
Renarin goes to Oathgate.. 12 Fused are waiting.. yet another young girl.. waves to Renarin.. gets info Teshav about attack in Urithiru..communicating with span reeds.. seems parshmen there aren't large enough to defeat Alethi there.. but still holding the oathgate.. Malata and Mr. T contingent out of reach..
Renarin goes anyway to fight the Fused to oathgate.. has a fit, kinda.. one which gives tells him future.. and smiles.. he knows what's coming.. Teft as a KR with Alethi troops.. since Teft has said his 3rd ideal, he carries a shardspear
Shallan is tired.. Jasnah/Navani/Fen and others discussing situation in Thaylen as well as Urithiru.. Shallan/Pattern see 1000s of fresh parshman troops carry ladders off ship to use in full-on assault
Renarin tells Lopen to not give chase to Fused.. Lopen goes to tell Teft.. Rock(who can now use stormlight and healed his wound) and Lyn land near Renarin..Rock gives a hug before flying off
Lift joins Dalinar, hands over the ruby.. it is dun so that Dalinar can put the red mist into it? yep, time for Thrill to rest.. Mr. T's words about capturing spren helping Dalinar
Kal doesn't have to beat the 8 Fused, simply have to last long enough.. have you read The Lies of Locke Lamora? ;)
Kal's stormlight runs out, is hurt but then the Fused run.. Dalinar has finished capturing the mist..all went dark, storm overhead growing still.. then sees something streaking from the city, brilliant white lights flying in the air
Amaram comes again..all broken up.. Kal goes all wordy and then Rocks slams two arrows into Amaram, killing him.. dark smoke escapes from him.. and two shardblades form beside him
Shallan is up on the walls, overwhelmed by faith on her by Thaylen that she could help against Amaram's soldiers and parshmen lining up to the walls.. then the red eyes fade, storm above fades too..
Kal heals with spheres brought by The Lopen.. Kal wonders how Rock had used the shardbow.. then sees Dalinar and Lift.. It's over

ideals

oh look, Moash is back.. I figure he helped the parshmen after the Fused had told him the truth about humans arriving from another world.. let's see what he's upto now
Moash wonders why there are 9 orders to Fused and not 10.. yup Moash knows that humans came from another world, which had ended
Moash is given a strange knife, sapphire set into pommel.. bright golden metal, almost white.. he killed Elhokar, asked if he would do the same to a god (Lightbringer anyone?)
Navani also uses "He's mine" dialogue.. embracing Dalinar.. he asks her to study the ruby, why it is able to prison an unmade.. Navani reminds that Gavilar did it too.. and Dalinar asks her to teach him read - yup, more clue that Dalinar wrote the Oathbringer book
Shallan pleads to Jasnah to fulfill her wardship until Jasnah determines Shallan is ready
and the confusion continues.. still, Adolin seemed to know her.. what was that? Shallan just about managed to push Veil and Radiant back instead of announcing union with Kal
Venli can easily blend in.. could change eyes to red if needed, courtesy Timbre capturing the voidspren..except when drawing in stormlight.. they are fleeing back to Marat
Venli can interpret what Timbre's rhythms.. when asking why not a human for bonding, gets to know many humans betrayed including Timbre's grandpa.. hmm.. so what about Eshonai?
Venli is only too happy to continue Odium's role for her.. but I think this time she's gonna tell truth as she knows it

Odium doesn't agree to protect ppl Mr. T will rule (as that would be all humans, him being king)..offers to save his family..nope says Mr. T and then asks for Kharbranth to be saved..agreement is reached - Odium would spare the city, any humans born into it, along with their spouses..
Odium then says he needs the Honorblade they stole and find out for him what Alethi have discovered about the tower..
what exactly is Odium's power here.. knows some stuff but not others.. why'd he need Mr. T at all?
