| # Strengths & Storytelling Reflection Guidelines | |
| Build on your professional story by thinking about how you're progressing at Turing. Answer the questions below in your own gist to use your StrengthsFinder themes to add to your story: | |
| * Look at your initial StrengthsFinder reflection that you completed in week 1 -- how have your perceptions of the top 5 themes stayed the same? How have they changed? | |
| * I think that my perceptions from week 1 have basically stayed the same. The one thing that I am disappointed in myself about is that I lost positivity during the ideabox project. It had issues, and I fell into a fixed mindset and had a hard time over coming the issues. Instead of blaming myself, I should have fallen to my natural positivity strength and been positive and believed that the obstacles we faced would be overcome. | |
| * How are you different today than when you first started at Turing? How are you stronger now than on day 1? How have you struggled? | |
| * I think that I am in such a better place now than I was before I started Turing. I was never a great student, I always just did enough to get B+'s and put in as little effort as possible. At Turing I have worked my butt off! And I like working hard. I feel better about myself, I have been eating better, getting in as much exercise as I can and I just feel overall in a much healthier place than I was at my last job. Beside the ideabox project that I already talked about I have been filled with pride for all of the hard work I have put in and the things that I have accomplished. | |
| * Considering how you describe these themes, how do you want others to see you as you continue to progress through Turing? | |
| * I want to be a shining beacon of positivity. We have some people in my class who are incredible at building others up around them and I think that I do that pretty well myself, but can definitely do better. I also want to work on my developer trait and be open for pairing with Mod 1 students when I am in Mod 2. | |
| * Even though your Turing story isn't finished yet, what do you envision for your development in future mods? How will this story end? | |
| * I see me continuing to work my butt off and put in a ton of hours. I have to say, it is an incredible feeling to complete a project after putting in countless hours and being proud of what I have built. I think this story will end with me getting an awesome job where I can continue to grow my passion for coding! | |
| * Finally, write a draft of your story here. This is a short paragraph, 4-6 sentences, describing who you are, why you came to Turing, and what you hope to accomplish while you're here: | |
| * I am a student at Turing School of Software and Design. I have found a passion that I am ready and excited to take with me on this journey. With a resume littered with vastly different jobs (Financial Analyst, Counselor for Homeless Youth, Ski Instructor, Car Salesman), I made the leap to attend Turing because being a Front-End Developer is the perfect mixture of creativity and hard skills. Being a developer helps me achieve my goal of being a lifelong-learner, and Turing is an increible place to kick off this new and exciting adventure. |
