A fearlessly critical assessment of the Mahatma

On The Mahatma

Achieving something through non-violent movement is as precarious a belief as “love conquers all.” That Gandhi claimed “a Satyagrahi can't fail” is not only delusional, but the epitome of narcissism. To quote Godse, “Mahatma became the judge and jury in his own cause.”

Satyagraha: The Magic Bullet

“These childish insanities and obstinacies, coupled with a most severe austerity of life, ceaseless work and lofty character made Gandhi formidable and irresistible” — Nathuram Godse

To put it simply, if someone went against Gandhi, he or she implicitly committed sedition. His supposed austerity to life, that he presented to the public, had been a part of his elaborate scheme to safeguard himself from any form of criticism, and become a figure of voluntary servitude in the minds of Indians.

(Remember, it's the same Gandhi who demanded the execution of Bhagat Singh, because apparently his movement of attaining freedom was ‘violent’ according to his standards.)

For example, if someone said “Gandhi was wrong because ...” that person would be interrupted in before finishing and INC supporters would subvert it to the emotional argument that he lived such an austere life, setting aside the fact that someone's professional and personal lives don't require any correlation.

This is exactly the sort of atmosphere INC fostered in colonial and post-colonial eras, ensuring whoever went against Gandhi's idealisms was not only alienated in political but social spheres too.

Muslim Appeasement

Gandhi was a Muslim appeaser through and through. Beginning on from his support for the unrelated Khilafat Movement, irrelevant to India's freedom struggle, down to Gandhi-Ambedkar conflict after centered around the controversial Communal Award.

He'd rather die fasting than provide other varnas opportunity to stand in elections; in reply Ambedkar would burn Manusmriti, making a statement about the systemic oppression of Dalits since the late Vedic ages.

Partition, and its effects

Needless to say, Gandi-Jinnah conflict resulted in the partition of India, for the Muslim league became aware of the appeasement, and refused to stay under the Hindu puppeteers of INC.

Ironic how a country divided in two based on religion, was still considered a “secular nation.” This partition wasn't without a cost, and the afflicted were primarily the Bangladeshi refugees, who were forced into inhumane conditions by the apathetic Neheru (uncle of the nation) government.

The effects of partition even after almost 80 years of independence are still persistent. Hindus, who exist as the minority in Pakistan and Bangladesh are cruelly lynched, murdered, or raped by Islamic fundamentalists.

Votebank Politics

The survivors are forced to flee the country, and take refuge as illegal immigrants in India. These power the votebanks of various political parties (e.g. TMC), who've assimilated minority politics in their core.

Contemporary votebank politics is the renaissance of Gandhian ideals of the past, where he focused on building Muslim backing for INC.

Ironic how it's the same Gandhi, who had made supporting the underrepresented his life motto, said racist things about South Africans during his academic tenure. He was the progenitor of poltical correctness in India.
