Intel’s new lunar lake cpus feel like an itanium moment all over again (rant)

Personally i feel like cpus are in a weird itanium all over again era and cpus are going downhill fast. i miss the 14-900KS days where intel and Amd were chasing peak performance no matter what.

As someone who does a lot of single core intensive stuff like Virtual machines, gaming, unity and unreal engine 5, coding, and web dev Intel is focusing on power efficiency and removing hyperthreading is a sale kill for me like I’m not paying that much money for what feels like an experimental chip.

Now of coarse i know its not Itanium but what i meant like it feels like deja vu almost? where intel is focusing on developers and compilers to optimize for their chips rather then make em faster.

like Intel has been here before with the Intel itanium disaster we all know how it ends we need fast cpus not power efficiency traded off for what id call an experimental chip i seriousley dont get why intel is betting on this weird new arcitecture to be the new thing.

and Amd kinda has a whole other issue with their weird branding cause like if i buy an Amd laptop what am i even getting?

AS much as id love Amd to come save us all the sad part is new Amd chips have their own pile of issues

Amd cant decide what they’re trying to do and is making 500 different chips on laptops mainly Strix halo, Ryzen ai, Ryzen 9, with vastly different single core performance meanwhile before you could get a ryzen 9 desktop or laptop and know your getting smth pretty good in single core

Like genuinely arm feels more stable at this point.
